At KEF, Kommunalekonomernas förening, we place great importance on the privacy of our members, customers and users. KEF processes personal data when you apply for membership or register for any of KEF’s other services.
As the data controller, we have an obligation to provide information to data subjects. For this reason, we provide information explaining what types of personal data we process and how we use it. This policy may be updated from time to time, so please review it regularly. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites to which we may provide links.
Personal Data
KEF will process personal data obtained from you, your employer, your colleagues or other sources. Personal data will be processed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. KEF will process personal data in order to:
Handle applications for KEF membership or access to services associated with your membership.
Handle registrations for and participation in our training courses, events and seminars.
Handle orders for our magazine Kommunal ekonomi or other publications.
Handle registrations for our subscription services.
Market our services and training courses.
Conduct market research or other surveys and evaluations.
Handle orders for job advertisements or other advertising services.
Handle questions or other inquiries and communications with us.
Who is responsible for the personal data we process?
The data controller is the entity that determines why and how personal data is processed. A data controller may, for example, be a municipality, government authority, organisation or company.

What personal data do we process?
When you submit applications, registrations or orders, or otherwise contact us, we may register your name, address, job title, telephone number, email address and billing address. We may also process any other personal data that you choose to provide to us.
We do not collect or process sensitive personal data such as information about health or ethnic origin. However, you may choose to provide certain information yourself, such as allergies or dietary requirements in connection with one of our events or training courses. By providing such information, we assume that you consent to our use of the information for these purposes.
We are committed to ensuring that your personal data is processed securely. To prevent unauthorised use or disclosure of your personal data, we use reasonable physical and technical security measures appropriate to the amount and sensitivity of the personal data concerned.
Your personal data will be retained for a maximum of 12 months after your membership has ended. We need to retain your information for a certain period in case you return as a member and to maintain a history in our systems.
Right to rectification
Once a year, we send a reminder asking you to review the personal data we have registered about you as a member and, if necessary, update it.
You may change your personal data at any time via your member pages or request that personal data that is incorrect, incomplete or misleading be corrected or deleted by contacting info@kef.se.
You may withdraw your consent at any time. Please note, however, that if you choose not to provide your consent, we may not be able to provide certain services or products to you.
Why do we process personal data?
In order to process your personal data, we must comply with applicable laws and therefore have a legal basis for processing your personal data. This may include your consent, but processing may also be necessary to fulfil a contract, comply with a legal obligation or pursue a legitimate interest following a balancing of interests.
We process your personal data in order to:
Market training courses, events and other services and compile statistics. This processing is necessary for our legitimate interest in being able to provide you with relevant information. You may opt out of marketing communications from us at any time.
If you have registered for one of our events or training courses, or if someone else has registered you, we need to process your personal data in order to manage invoicing, confirmations, evaluations and other related matters.
If you have ordered any of our services or subscriptions, we need to process your personal data in order to enter into and fulfil the agreement.
Once your membership has been approved, KEF will store the information you have provided in order to fulfil our obligations to you as a member and to invoice your membership fee.
Who may we share your personal data with?
Where necessary, we share your personal data with companies that act as suppliers or service providers to KEF. These suppliers and service providers are referred to as data processors. A data processor is a company that processes information on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions.
We use data processors that, among other things, assist us with:
IT services – companies that manage necessary operations, technical support and maintenance of our IT solutions. We may transfer IP addresses, email addresses, contact details, and billing and payment information to these providers.
Payment service providers – billing and payment information may be transferred to these providers.
Advertising and communications agencies – companies that assist us with communications and marketing. We may transfer your contact details to these providers.
Partners – such as the organisers of KOMMEK, lecturers and KEF’s partners. We may provide these parties with your contact details where necessary.
When your personal data is shared with data processors, it is shared only for the purposes specified above. We have written agreements with all our data processors in which they guarantee the security of the personal data processed and undertake to comply with our security requirements.
We do not sell or otherwise disclose your personal data to third parties.
Right of access
You have the right to receive a copy, free of charge, of the personal data we process about you. The information will be provided in the form of a data extract, including a description of the purposes of processing, the categories of personal data, retention periods and information about where the data was collected.
When you request access to your personal data, we may ask for additional information to ensure that we can process your request efficiently and that the information is disclosed to the correct person.
Right to withdraw consent
If you have given us your consent to process your personal data, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.
